air heat pumps
Because of its efficiency as a renewable, carbon free, energy source. . . and the availability of grants to offset capital cost, flotech recommend that you explore the advantages of installing an Air Source Heat Pump.
Find out more in: ENERGY GRANTS
Efficient and versatile: Air source heat pumps are generally more efficient than traditional heating systems like gas boilers, meaning you can use less energy to achieve the same level of heat, further reducing your carbon footprint.
[ HOW AIR SOURCE HEAT PUMPS WORK ]1. Heat extraction: The heat pump has an outdoor unit that draws in air from the environment.
2. Refrigerant cycle: Inside the unit, a refrigerant fluid (NOT water) absorbs heat from the surrounding air and is then compressed.
3. Heat transfer: This compressed refrigerant is then piped to a matched indoor unit, where the pressure is lowered, releasing its excess heat into your central heating system or hot water cylinder.
4. Heating: The heat generated can then be used to warm your home through radiators or underfloor heating, or to augment and boost your hot water.

solar thermal heating
Often referred to as 'Solar Water Heating', Solar Thermal panels use renewable energy from the sun to directly heat the water for your taps and showers, rather than to produce electricity.
Each self-contained sealed panel, like the one illustrated above, contains a glycol based fluid which readily absorbs solar energy, then transfers this heat to the water in your hot water cylinder.
[ MAKING SOLAR THERMAL WORK BEST ]Like Solar PV, solar thermal works all year round but is obviously more efficient during the summer months, and when orientated to face South East to South West.
flotech can install solar thermal heating for homeowners and landlords across all of Pembrokeshire including; Haverfordwest, Milford Haven, Pembroke, Pembroke Dock, Broad Haven, Little Haven, Tenby, Solva, Dale, Marloes, Fishguard, Neyland, Saundersfoot, St Brides, St Ishmaels or Narberth.

underfloor heating
Underfloor heating works by treating the entire floor as a low temperature radiator which emits heat evenly, warming the whole room without cold spots.
Another factor to consider when installing underfloor heating is the choice of boiler. Older boilers tend to be inefficient. . . whilst newer, condensing, boilers work best with such low temperature heating.
Underfloor heating can also be powered by heat pumps or other renewable energy sources. . . just ask Dean.

smart thermostats
A smart thermostat is a device that connects your heating system to the internet, allowing you to control it remotely from a smartphone or tablet.
Offering greater convenience and flexibility compared to traditional thermostats, these Apps often including features like automated scheduling, remote control, and energy-saving modes. There are many options available on the market and flotech will be happy to suggest the system that most closely meets your needs.

rainwater harvesting
Rainwater harvesting is a method of collecting, storing, and using rainwater as an alternative or supplementary water source.
A significant saving in water bills is made possible by using stored rainwater for non-potable purposes like gardening, flushing toilets, or washing clothes.
[ MORE ABOUT RAINWATER COLLECTION: ]Some key aspects of rainwater harvesting:
Collection: Rainwater is collected from roofs or other non-porous surfaces using gutters, downspouts, and other collection systems.
Storage: The collected rainwater is stored in tanks, which can be above or below ground.
Filtration: Filters are used to remove debris, leaves and other contaminants from the rainwater.
Pumping and Distribution: Pumps may be used to distribute the stored rainwater to various points of use, like garden sprinklers or toilet tanks.
Applications: Rainwater can be used for a variety of non-potable purposes, including:
- Irrigating gardens and lawns.
- Flushing toilets.
- Washing cars and clothes.
- Drinking water for livestock.
flotech can implement rainwater harvesting for properties across all of Pembrokeshire including; Haverfordwest, Milford Haven, Dale, Marloes, Fishguard, Neyland, Pembroke, Pembroke Dock, Broad Haven, Little Haven, Tenby, Solva, Saundersfoot, St Brides, St Ishmaels or Narberth.

Although the primary benefit of installing a rainwater collection system is water conservation, such a system also reduces reliance on municipal water supply, saves money on water bills, reduces runoff and helps recharge natural groundwater supplies.
